Welcome to St John’s

St John's East Dulwich 2A very warm welcome to St John’s, especially if you are visiting this website for the first time. Please feel free to browse around and see who we are and what we do.

At St John’s we are a warm and lively church, made up of people of all ages and backgrounds, reflecting the full diversity of our local community. Our main service is at 10.00 on Sunday mornings.

We are always pleased to welcome new members, so whether you are new to the area or have lived here for some time, do come round and check us out. We are easy to find – we are the church with the spire on the north-east corner of Goose Green.

We are also very pleased to hear from you if you live in the parish and wish to get married or have your children baptised in the church.

From our churchwardens, Rachel Mills and Michael Robinson:

We are delighted to announce that, subject to the satisfactory completion of the necessary procedures, the Parish Patron has presented the Revd Gill O’Neill to the Bishop of Southwark as his candidate for the post of Vicar at St John the Evangelist. Bishop Christopher has accepted the Patron’s offer and Gill has accepted the Patron’s offer to be our next incumbent.

Revd Gill O’Neill writes:

I am delighted to be joining you at St John’s East Dulwich as your new incumbent. I will be joined by my husband George, our daughters Emily and Imogen, and Poppy, our rather lively cocker spaniel. I am currently Curate at All Saints West Dulwich, having trained at Ripon College Cuddesdon, and prior to ordination I taught Religious Education at St Saviour’s and St Olave’s School in Southwark. I am keeping you all in my prayers as we look forward to the next stage of the life of St John’s together. Do pray for us as we prepare to move and settle in: it will be lovely to get to know you when I start in the summer.

All good wishes, Gill.

At the Annual Meeting of Parishioners held on 17 April, 2016 Rachel Mills and Joy Taylor were elected unopposed as Churchwardens.
