COVID-19 measures at St John’s. We are continuing with our Covid prevention measures at St John’s. This means that we will recommend and expect people to wear a face-covering, use hand sanitiser and maintain social distancing. We are the body of Christ, and we are mindful of those who are more vulnerable or anxious at this time. We will resume singing in due course, and will take one step at a time. If you would like to comment on these measures, or if you have any questions, please speak to Revd Gill.

Messy Church. Please put the dates of our next Messy Church services in your diaries: Sunday 12 September, 10 October, 14 November, 12 December, all at 4pm. Get in touch if you would like to help. The more the merrier, or messier!

Thursday Mass. There will not be a Thursday lunchtime Mass during August – this service will resume on Thursday 2 September.

There will be a short service on Sunday 5 September to bless the new rosemary plants which have been planted in the Knott Garden, outside the Goose Green Centre.  Each plant has been given in memory of a loved one.  Join us outside after the 10am Mass.

Join our audio-visual team!  We are all set up with user-friendly ways to operate our sound system and live-stream our services. We simply need a few more people to join the team on a rota basis. It isn’t difficult, and full training and support will be given. Please speak to Jim Nurton to find out more.

Making a regular donation to St John’s. If you have recently joined St John’s please consider making a regular donation to help fund the work of the church.  The easiest way to do this is by setting up a Direct Debit using the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS), either online by visiting www.parishgiving.org.uk or by phone, 0333 002 1271, Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm, quoting Parish name: East Dulwich St John. Leaflets on the Parish Giving Scheme are also available at the back of church. Please ask a member of our stewardship team if you have any questions: Claire Nylander after the 8am Mass or Martin Howell or Elizabeth Stanton after the 10am Mass.

Safeguarding. At St John’s we are committed to ensuring that our church is a safe place for everyone, and especially for children and vulnerable adults. If you have any safeguarding concerns, please speak to a member of our Safeguarding Team: Mary Dawson, Tina Hampson, Joy Taylor, Revd Gill O’Neill, wardens Julie Whitney and Jim Nurton, or email via office@stjohnseastdulwich.org. Alternatively, contact the Interim Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser: Moira Murray, moira.murray@southwark.anglican.org, 020 7939 9423, 07982 279 713. Out of office hours, call 020 3874 6743. If you have urgent concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable adult, please contact the police.

Psalms, Psinging and Psandwiches! St John’s will be hosting a workshop day on the singing of psalms on 2 October. This will be a really interesting day studying psalms and the variety of ways they can be sung. We hope members of the congregation may like to come to this event and it would also be helpful to have some volunteers to help with welcoming participants, serving refreshments, etc. Please contact John Webber maggieandjohn1@googlemail.com or Sue O’Neill sue.oneill@virgin.net if you would like to know more.
