Christmas Events & Services 

Join the festive celebrations at St John’s Church this Christmas!

December is so busy. In the midst of the chaos, St John’s Church offers an opportunity to find peace, joy and time for reflection. We have listed our special Christmas services below, in addition to our usual Sunday services at 8am and 10am.

Our Sunday 10 am services will be live-streamed on Zoom and on our YouTube channel. To receive details of the Zoom link, please subscribe to our weekly email, which will contain details of all of our services.

Saturday 6 December, Carols by the Green

11am-1pm Drop in any time for mince pies, mulled wine, Christmassy crafts and sing your favourite Christmas carols. Bring friends and family for warm and welcoming Christmas fun.

 

Sunday 14 December, Christmas Messy Church

3.45 – 5pm Join us as we create a candlelit Bethlehem in East Dulwich! With  activities, songs and tea together as we tell the Christmas story and celebrate together. Messy Church is for everyone, and is especially suitable for little ones.

 

Sunday 21 December, Christmas Carol Service

6pm Everyone is welcome at our beautiful, candlelit service with traditional Christmas carols and readings, with the St John’s choir and brass band. Stay afterwards for mince pies and mulled wine in the Goose Green Centre. The service will last approximately an hour.
 
 

Wednesday 24 December, Christmas Eve

Christingle

3pm and 4.30pm an East Dulwich tradition, join the fun as we tell the story of Jesus’ birth, sing Christmas songs, and light our Christingle candles. These services are especially suitable for families and little ones, and a collection is taken in support of The Children’s Society.
 

Midnight Mass

11.30pm This beautiful late-night service celebrates the birth of Christ, the Light of the World, coming to us in the midst of darkness. This service includes the singing of carols, music by the St John’s Choir and brass band, a sermon and Holy Communion. It will last approximately 1hr 20 minutes.
 

Thursday 25 December, Christmas Day

10am Sung Festival Eucharist We celebrate the joy of Christmas morning and the birth of Jesus, ‘Emmanuel – God with us’, with carols, music, readings, a sermon, and Holy Communion in a service lasting just over one hour.
